“Old Blue” (traditional)

Like most traditional songs, “Old Blue” exists in hundreds of variations. It has been recorded by many artists over the years. Peter, Paul, and Mary’s three-part rendition is particularly noteworthy. It is unclear when the song first became popular, but a very similar poem appeared in The Mother Goose: Containing All the Melodies the Old Lady Ever Wrote, edited by Dame Goslin (1850).
