Ludwig van Beethoven (1770–1827), String Quartet in G Major, op. 18, no. 2, mvt. 4
Beethoven’s String Quartet op. 18 no. 2 in G major was written between 1798 and 1800. It is one of the most traditionally Classical of the composer’s quartets. The fourth movement juxtaposes two motives: one based on simple arpeggiations, and one based on a more stepwise filling-in of an ascending fifth, or its inversion, a descending fourth.
