“Señoritas,” also known as “Chiapanecas” (traditional)

This traditional tune is originally from Mexico, where the title is “Chiapanecas.” Although the commonly heard English version includes quite different words, the original name is borrowed from a lively triple-time dance in which all participants clap. The anacrusis is one of the distinguishing features of the dance.
