Mozart, String Quintet in C Major, K. 406, mvt. 2
Scored for two violins, two violas, and a cello, Mozart’s second string quintet was written in 1787 and is an arrangement of his Serenade for Wind Octet, K. 388. The second movement, marked Andante, starts with a wonderful series of properly resolving dissonances in the two violins (see question 7 below) and presents a typical eighteenth-century phrase structure.
