Beethoven, Symphony No. 2 in D Major, op. 36 (1801–1802), mvt. 2

No other composer has reached Beethoven’s iconic status. His nine symphonies are regarded as quintessential cornerstones of the classical literature. This excerpt from his Second Symphony is drawn from the second movement, marked Larghetto, which shows clear pastoral and folk influences.
