Mozart, “Ah! Vous dirai-je, Maman,” K. 265, Variation 5

The French folk tune that is the basis of what you may know as “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star” was just as popular in eighteenth-century France as it is today. Mozart wrote a set of twelve variations based on this folk tune. Listen to Mozart's variations on this tune, and then consider how you might vary it in other ways.
